Binbag Wisdom is the creative outlet of Jake Blackmore (Binbags) and Jack Wisdom (Dur Brain), a project that bounces between music, writing and performance with a distinct brand of live, loud and loosely scripted theatrical boom-bap.

Known for their sharp lyricism, playful live energy and cynical observations on modern life. Binbag Wisdom have moved through different incarnations since their beginnings in 2013, while never losing the sensibilities that keep audiences engaged. Blending rap, jazz, and melodic hooks with improvised comedy and stagecraft, their sound, and shows are equal parts stupid and sincere.

Driven by restless curiosity, and short attention spans, they constantly rejig how they approach their art, shifting between raw lyricism, theatrical moments and unexpected twists so nothing ever feels set in stone. Their work blends storytelling and improvised skits into both their tunes and their live shows, so a gig might feel like you’ve stumbled into a story unfolding in real time, mixed with some of the UK's finest hip hop music. It’s unpredictable, a combination of jokes, true stories and banging tunes that keep you guessing where it’ll go next.

Their latest piece, ‘The Ballad of Wee Willy Winky or: How to find purpose in a rap desert.’ pushes that approach further. It’s a hard-hitting rap show built around character driven storytelling, where gritty bars and am-dram scenes collide, sometimes scripted, sometimes improvised. Using what they assume are genuine theatrical techniques to expand the emotional range of the set, untrained and unrefined, Binbag Wisdom are boldly experimenting in a new area where gig meets theatre and comedy meets tragedy.
